My involvement in Buckeye Solar Racing began in August 2021. The first project I was given was to lead the Drivetrain team to adapt out new Mitsuba in-hub motor to the predefined suspension of our first vehicle, Farasi II. It's namesake stems from Western Michigan University who donated the original Farasi to us to give us a head start. We were able to race Farasi II in the Formula Sun Grand Prix (FSGP) 2023. From 2023 to 2025, I was the Technical and Manufacturing Director where I specialized in finalizing project team's designs and managed manufacturing from conception to completion, ensuring that they're completed within budget and on schedule.
Here I've documented the projects that I developed while a part of the team.
Drivetrain Lead
The goal of this project was to adapt the Farasi suspension to a Mitsuba M2096 motor while also retaining Farasi's wheels.
Since Farasi II had a single motor (1WD) in the right rear, the left rear needed an axle and wheel hub to match the trackwidth set by the motor side.
